From 1867 after the First Schism, the Adi Dharam movement became
stridently nationalistic. A Hindu Mela was regularly organised which
became the precursor to the Swadeshi movement and then the Indian
National Congress.
In the meanwhile the expelled Christian factions from Adi Samaj
launched a sustained and bitter campaign to wean away the Adi Dharma
missions outside Bengal. A great deal of propaganda was hurled from
both sides. |
